Allergan Introduces Lastacaft for Ocular Itching
Allergan, Inc., launched Lastacaft (alcaftadine ophthalmic solution) 0.25% for the prevention of ocular itching due to allergic conjunctivitis, according to a news release.
Lastacaft, a new chemical entity with an affinity for H1, is approved by the FDA for dosing once daily in patients aged 2 years or older. In clinical studies, Lastacaft provided relief of ocular itching within 3 minutes in 97% of participants (n = 909), and one drop was shown to prevent ocular itching for 16 hours in 87% of patients.
