Drs. Andy Morgenstern and Walt Whitley discuss the benefits and challenges of direct-to-consumer (DTC) education in health care. Andy says that marketing directly to patients is valuable because it ensures they are receiving accurate information regarding medical procedures. Walt agrees that more information is beneficial for patients, but warns that risks, side effects, etc. are often too complex to simplify into a short DTC marketing message.
