Should We All Have A Topographer?

by Derek Cunningham OD, Walter Whitley, OD

A corneal topographer is a useful tool for ODs, assisting with difficult-to-fit contact lens patients, evaluating disease progression, and helping plan refractive surgery. Walt feels that topographers can certainly benefit a practice, but they are not something that every OD needs. Derek disagrees and says that topographers are critically important to have in all practices because the tool allows practitioners to catch early signs of disease.
